Third Temper to open in Covent Garden

The Caterer reports that Neil Rankin has announced the intended opening of a third site for Temper restaurant. Situated in Covent Garden, the new site will open in spring, focussing on cured meat pizzas. The new Covent Garden site follows Rankin's BBQ-meat restaurant in Soho which focusses on tacos and an Angel site which has a strong emphasis on curry.

Brewdog to open Seven Dials site

Brewery and pub chain Brewdog is set to open a new three-floor site in Seven Dials, London, in February. Eat Out Magazine reports that the 5,100 sq. ft. site will feature two bars.

Hydro Hotel's turnover increases to £3.5m

Eastbourne's Hydro Hotel has seen an increase in turnover, which has been attributed to the refurbishment as well as the introduction of a wedding venue. Boutique Hotelier reported that the hotel's sales saw an increase of 9%, irrespective of post-tax profits falling from £176,184 to £126,720.

Meat & Drink acquires Preston site

Meat & Drink pub company has acquired its second site in Preston city centre. Propel Info reported that the new site is The Market Tavern, adding to their existing unit, The Plungington Hotel. The company, led by Jeremy Rowlands and Rebecca Scott, is also developing their new gin bar, Plau Gin And Beer House, situated in Friargate.

Rock band open hotel in Kent

The Caterer has reported that the Libertines intend to open a hotel in Margate, overlooking the sea. The former Palm Court hotel, with 10-bedrooms spread over five floors, will be refurbished and renamed the Albion Rooms. The band is also building a rear extension which will house a recording studio.

Hatch, Manchester's new retail and leisure pop-up destination, has welcomed its first five tenants. Located under the Mancunian Way on Oxford Road, the first five food operators are: The Blue Caribou Canteen; Eat & Sweet; Takk, an espresso bar; El Marchador, a gluten-free and plant-based Mexican concept; as well as The Öl Brewery Bar, a Scandinavian concept. Propel Info reports that the area for new and innovative concepts was established in October by property company Bruntwood; and the project is set to expand to 35 operators by the summer.
