Barclaycard reports strong pub and restaurant consumer spend
New spending data released by Barclaycard has revealed that consumer spending in pubs grew by 11.7% in October, which contributed to the 10.8% increase in entertainment spend. Pub and Bar Magazine also reported that restaurant spend also increased by 8.6%.
Luxury guest house in Lancashire available for £1.2m
Birches Brow, near Ormskirk in Lancashire, has been introduced to the market by Fleurets, with a guide price of £1.2m for the freehold. Boutique Hotelier reports that the 18th century boutique guest house was acquired by Sue Greene and business partners in April 2015. The Restaurant Group raising £315m for Wagamama acquisition
The Caterer has reported that The Restaurant Group is intending to raise £315m in order to contribute to the £559m acquisition of Wagamama. In order to do so, The Restaurant Group will issue 290 million shares, and existing shareholders offered 13 new shares in return for nine old shares based at 108.5p. The Caterer also reported that Wagamama's like-for-like sales increased by 12.2% between 20th August and 4th November.
Liverpool Moxy to open in 2020
Marriott International's budget-lifestyle brand, Moxy, is set to launch a 153-bedroom hotel in Liverpool in 2020, reports The Caterer. Situated close by to Liverpool Lime Street station, the property will be operated by Cycas Hospitality, adding a second Liverpool property to their 13-strong portfolio.
Redcomb Pubs open pop-up whiskey-themed bar in Charing Cross
Redcomb Pubs, run by Mark Draper and Dan Shotton, has opened a pop-up saloon bar above an existing site near Charing Cross in London. Pub and Bar Magazine reports that, located above The Theodore Bullfrog, Double Barrel has been created in partnership with Tanqueray, Haig Club, Johnnie Walker and Bullit Bourbon.

As reported by Propel Info, actor and producer Idris Elba has teamed up with with identical twin brothers Lee and Nicky Caulfield to launch The Parrot, a live music venue and cocktail bar based in The Waldorf Hilton in Aldwych.
