Inglenook Inns & Taverns sign for fifth Star Pub & Bars site
Inglenook Inns & Taverns has signed for The Crown at Alrewas, a 16th century village pub in Staffordshire. This transaction marks the group's fourth pub with Star Pub & Bars, and 15th site in total; and a £270,000 refurbishment has already begun. Pub and Bar Magazine reports that the operator is intending to expand further across the North West, Midlands and Wales, aspiring to an estate of 20 leased pubs.
Liverpool's Lock & Key bar to open hotel
Lock & Key bar in Liverpool is set to open a 14-bedroom boutique hotel under the same brand. The hotel will occupy the adjoining Grade II listed row of Georgia townhouses, which had previously been unoccupied for over a decade. The Caterer reports that, working with interior design firm House of Sloane, the building has been renovated and its period features restored. Expected to launch in early 2019, the hotel has already started taking bookings.
Young's announces strong interim results
Brewer and pubco Young's has announced an 8.8% increase in revenue to £156.8m, for the 26 weeks ending 1st October 2018, in their interim results. Pub and Bar Magazine reported that Young's also announced a 5.2% like-for-like sales increase in its managed houses.
SACO opens Manchester Locke aparthotel
Serviced Apartment Company (SACO) has opened a new 160-studio Locke aparthotel in Manchester, following the opening of Lehman Locke, London in 2016 as well as Eden Locke in Edinburgh in 2017. The Caterer reports that Whitworth Locke, the former Manchester cotton mill, has been re-designed by Grzywinski+Pons, the New York architects.
Marston's Revere Pub Company opens Sheffield Lost & Found
Marston's Revere Pub Company has opened a new Lost & Found in Sheffield, marking the sixth unit for the 'Victorian hideaway' concept. Existing sites are located in Birmingham, Bristol, Knutsford as well as two in Leeds. Propel reports that the 178-cover venue is set over two floors and located on Ecclesall Road.
And Finally...
Street food market operator Kerb will be opening an indoor food hall in Seven Dials, London, which comes a month after leaving its Camden site. The Caterer reports that, collaborating with the landowner Shaftesbury, the new food hall will occupy the 19th-century Thomas Neal's Warehouse and is set to open in summer 2019. Spread over two floors, the 22,000 sq ft space will accommodate street food traders as well as local businesses, also including bakeries, florists and bookshops.
