Wilderness Bar + Kitchen to open in Manchester in August
A three-storey bar and restaurant, Wilderness Bar + Kitchen, is set to open in Manchester's Northern Quarter from 15th August. Pub and Bar Magazine reported that the venue is operated by Mat Lake and Bart Murphy (Bunny Jacksons and Junkyard Golf Club), Lyndon Higginson (Bunny Jacksons, Junkyard and Liars Group) and Dan Morris (former Cottonpolis and Trof Group).
Barworks adds two sites to portfolio
London pub and bar operator, Barworks, has added two new pubs to their estate, reports Propel. The first is the former Beavertown-owned Duke's Brew & Que pub, which Beef & Brew took on for its second site last year, which will now be rebranded as a Barworks site and returned to its original name, the Duke of York. The second pub is the White Bear in St John Street, Farringdon.
Arabica to open in King's Cross
Arabica is set to open in King's Cross, London, later this year, reports The Caterer. Arabica's original site was in Borough Market, however they will be moving into a 100-cover space in the Aga Khan centre, near Coal Drops Yard.
Wells & Co acquires the Oliver Cromwell in St Ives
Bedford-based retailer and brewer, Wells & Co, has acquired the Oliver Cromwell pub in Wellington Street, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, for its tenanted portfolio. Propel reports that the pub dates back to the 18th century and will join a portfolio of 174 leased and tenanted pubs as well as 23 managed houses.
Third Voco hotel opens in Oxford
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has relaunched the 104-bedroom De Vere Oxford Thames under its Voco Brand. The 15th century property marks the third UK hotel for the brand. The Caterer reports that the first UK Voco hotel was the Principal Hotel in Cardiff which converted to Voco St David's, followed by the relaunch of St John's hotel in Solihull which became Voco St John's.
And Finally...
Lunar Pub Company is set to open Hunter's Moon in Chelsea this September, marking the first of three sites which are scheduled to open over the next two years. Big Hospitality reports that the pub will be split with a 25-cover pub as well as a 48-cover dining room.
