Mas opens first outlet in London
Mas, a South American grab and go concept, has opened its first unit in London's Fenchurch Street. The Caterer reports that the concept, founded by brothers Alberto and Arian Zandi, the team behind Zuaya, is intending to open four additional sites in the next two years. The first three sites will be in the City, whilst the next in the West End.
Puttshack could expand by 50 UK sites
Mini-golf brand, Puttshack is set to expand having raised £27m with investor Promethean Investments, reports Propel. Puttshack has therefore announced potential for 50 UK sites as well as 300 in the US.
Whitworth Locke hotel to host residency restaurant
The Cotton Factory at Whitworth Locke hotel on Princess Street is looking to collaborate with street food operators. Big Hospitality reports that the restaurant has 78 covers with the kitchen situated in the middle. Overseen by hospitality project consultancy The Initiative Group, the residencies will last between three and six months and Mexican food traders El Camino will kick them off.
Harry Ramsden to feature at Mecca Bingo
Harry Ramsden has partnered with Mecca Bingo and will be rolling out its Proudly Serving Harry Ramsden concept to over 70 outlets. Propel reports that the new concept is a branded menu targeting pub, restaurant and catering partners.
London operators expand to the South West
London operators Taskin Muzaffer, Pru Clarke and Gareth Crosby of The Johnson Collective have partnered with Star Pubs & Bars, making a £350,000 joint investment in order to open the Unicorn On The Beach at Porthtowan Beach, Cornwall. Marking their first pub outside of London, the pub will open in August. The Morning Advertiser reports that the operators plan to open roughly eight sites in the coming five years.
And Finally...
Teresa May, in partnership with the British Tourist Authority and Industry, has announced plans for a new deal which will create a Tourism Data Hub. Boutique Hotelier reports that this deal will also support the creation of 10,000 apprenticeships, the building of an additional 130,000 hotel rooms (75% being built outside of London) as well as intentions to become the most accessible destination for disabled visitors.
