Camerons Brewery to open third Leeds Head of Steam
Camerons Brewery's Head of Steam is set to open its third Leeds site this summer. Propel reports that the new pub, thought to be in a former Lloyds Bank on Park Row, will join existing sites on Mill Hill, near Leeds station, as well as a unit in Headingley. Head of Steam also has sites in Durham, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Liverpool, Hull and Tynemouth.
Atul Kochhar to open restaurant in former Westminster Fire Station
Atul Kochhar, the chef and restaurateur behind Kanishka in Mayfair, is set to open Mathura in the Grade II-listed former Westminster Fire Station. As reported by The Caterer, Mathura, due to open this autumn, will serve Indian cuisine and use locally-sourced produce.
The Botanist to open in Warrington
New World Trading Company is set to open a new The Botanist in Warrington's Time Square. According to Pub and Bar Magazine, the 295 cover site is due to open by December 2019.
Oakman Inns acquire seven freehold pubs
Oakman Inns has completed the acquisition of two companies, encompassing seven freehold pubs: Downoak Ltd (which included The Crown & Thistle in Abingdon, The Akeman in Tring as well as The Akeman Inn in Kingswood) and also Hedderwick Ltd (which included The Cherry Tree in Olney, Banyers House in Royston as well as The Globe in Warwick, which was previously held in a partnership). Pub and Bar Magazine reports that the portfolio has a combined EBITDA of £2.8m.
Greene King announces increase in lfl sales
Greene King's pub arm has announced a like-for-like sales growth of 2.9% for the 52 weeks to 28th April 2019. The Morning Advertiser reports that Easter like-for-like volume sales increased by 4.6% when compared with the previous year's Easter weekend. The Chef & Brewer brand alone recorded 15.3% increase in like-for-like sales volume for the weekend. Furthermore, the pubco's tenanted and leased branch, Pub Partners, reported a like-for-like net income increase of 1.6% for the same 52 week period.

According to data from STR, London hotels reached record levels for average daily rate (ADR) in April. The Caterer reports that ADR increased to £143.01, a 1.4% uplift; whilst demand, during the month of April, also increased by 0.7%.
