The Star Inn in Alfriston secured by Polizzi family
Alex Polizzi, The Hotel Inspector, revealed on Jeremy Vine's show that the family have secured The Star Inn in Alfriston. The 37-bedroom property is to close at the end of October and undergo seven months of renovation. Nick Earee from Fleurets brokered the transaction.
Loungers announce strong trading results
Loungers has reported its trading results for the 24 weeks ending 6th October 2019. Total revenue, spanning both the Cosy Club and Lounge brands, was £79.8m for the period, a 22% growth when compared to the previous year. Like-for-like sales growth also increased by 5.4%. Pub and Bar Magazine reports that over this period, Loungers has also opened 10 new sites, two Cosy Clubs and eight Lounges.
Nando's Nino to open third restaurant
Nando's Nino, the brand's express format which is designed for delivery or takeaway, is set to launch its third site on Lavender Hill, close to Clapham Junction. Big Hospitality reports that the site is set to open on the 29th October and the concept's other operations are in Fulham and Twickenham.
Licensing application submitted for former Spinningfields site
Propel reports that Tokyo Industries has submitted a licensing application for the former Neighbourhood bar in Spinningfields, Manchester. The proposed concept is 'immersive' entertainment, offering films, plays and live music, which will run alongside a bar and restaurant. If the licensing application is successful then the concept will open in early November.
Barworks to occupy former Fifteen in Hoxton
London pub and bar operator, Barworks is to occupy a former Jamie Oliver's Fifteen in Hoxton. Propel reports that the site is expected to open as a pub. Barworks also recently opened former Beef & Brew in Hackney as the Duke of York and the White Bear in Smithfield is expected to re-open mid-November.
And Finally...
Big Hospitality has announced the line-up for Market Halls' 35,000 sq ft West End site, which will occupy the former BHS near Oxford Circus. With 900 covers spread over three floors, 11 traders and four bars, it will be the largest food hall in the country. Operators will include: a third Pleasant Lady site; Yatai; a second site for Gopal's Corner; Super Tacos; Hotbox; BaoziInn; Paradise Slice; Good Bird by chef Tom Griffiths and finally another Pastasio site.
