Late night leisure consumer spend increases
According to Deltic Night Index, consumers are spending £69.94 on average on a night out, a 3.9% increase year-on-year. Pub and Bar Magazine further reports that consumers are going out 1.51 times a week, which compares to 1.42 in the last quarter and 1.19 times last year.
Waka to open near Tower Hill, London
Waka, the Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant will open its third London location this month. Big Hospitality reports that the group has taken a site at 3 Thomas More Street near Tower Hill. Waka's existing sites are in Houndsditch and White City, with Thomas More Street expected to open mid-January.
Fourth site for The Italian Job
The Italian Job, the UK's first Italian craft beer pub, has announced the launch of its fourth site, reports Propel. A site on Hackney's Cadogan Terrace will join existing operations in Notting Hill, Chiswick and the Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle.
Club Mexicana to open in Kingly Court in March
Vegan restaurant group Club Mexicana is set to open in Kingly Court, Soho, London. Big Hospitality reports that the new site will open in March this year, joining London's first fully-vegan pub in Hackney and a site at Kerb's Seven Dials market.
Shepherd Neame to open pub and boutique hotel in north Kent
Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer, plans to open a new pub and boutique hotel in Ebbsfleet Garden City, north Kent, after plans have been approved. The new hotel and pub, named The Chalk Yard, will be located in the Castle Hill area reports Pub and Bar Magazine.
