Fuller's 'being careful about price increases'

Fuller's is concentrating on getting higher footfall, in a bid to avoid increasing prices, CEO Simon Emeny told the Morning Advertiser. The company recently revealed its trading update, which reported revenue up from £45.6m to £116.3m compared to the previous year. On the ongoing issues with price rises, Emeny outlined how the business is dealing with the influx of increases. Emeny added: "I suspect a lot of the inflationary pressures will just be short term, as the world economy restarts."

Pub operators back recruitment fundraiser

A number of pub operators, including Punch Pubs and Loungers are backing a new project that aims to reignite and rescue the hospitality recruitment crisis. The initiative, called Hospitality Rising, is being led by former Pret a Manger and YO! Sushi marketer Mark McCulloch, advises Pub & Bar. The campaign is aiming to raise £5m to launch a recruitment campaign to attract more talent into the industry as it starts to recover.

UK restaurant insolvencies soar by 31%

UK restaurant insolvencies have soared by 31% to 296 in the last quarter, up from 226 in the previous quarter, according to new figures from UHY Hacker Young. The national accountancy group says that many restaurants have faced a cash flow crisis which may have tipped some over the edge into insolvency. After being closed for much of the last year, restaurants have had to suddenly increase their expenditure following closures amid lockdown, with sales not recovering quickly enough, reports Catering Today.

Café Rouge is trialling a new brand identity that sees the Café dropped from its name and new design concepts and menu options introduced. Their site in Haywards Heath will be the first of select few sites to pilot changes to the Café Rouge brand identity, which is intended to 'improve ambience and create a more modern and relaxing dining experience', report Big Hospitality.
