Three London pubs which previously formed part of the Harcourt Inns estate have been put on the market. The Crown in Chiswick, the Three Cranes in the City of London and the Harcourt in Marylebone are being considered for sale individually or as a portfolio, advises The Caterer. Harcourt Inns was founded by James McCulloch in 2014 and grew to six sites, with chef Henry Harris brought in to oversee the food offering. The gastropub group did not survive the pandemic and Harris left in late 2020.
Tim Hortons plans to double its drive-thru estate across the UK with 40 new sites planned for 2023. The Canadian QSR brand opened its 50th drive-thru in Watford yesterday (28 November) and plans to open four further drive-thrus before the end of 2022. Big Hospitality reports its current estate in the UK is 65 restaurants. Tim Hortons, which has more than 4,700 system-wide restaurants worldwide, will open restaurants in Liverpool, Swansea, and Dundee in the first quarter of next year.
Historic pub the Simpson's Tavern has crowdfunded more than £100,000 to stay open, after its doors were locked in a dispute over rent. The Cornhill-based pub, which has been serving customers for 265 years, closed in October. Morning Advertiser reports that the manager is aiming to crowdfund £385,000 to reopen the venue. "During this dark period, the only light we can see is the incredible support we have received," a statement on the pub's Twitter account said. Bosses said they were "staying in this fight to preserve history," with the Cornhill tavern having a history dating back to 1757.
Chef, author and television presenter Barry Vera has taken on the lease of The Green Man in Grantchester with entrepreneurs Christopher Webb and Joe Scarborough, reports Pub & Bar. The trio are undertaking a joint £500,000 refurbishment of the pub with owners Star Pubs & Bars. Having been closed for three years, it will reopen mid-January as a village local and destination food venue.

The report states that there will be a challenging year ahead for the hospitality sector, with even consumers in higher income groups starting to make changes to spending as fears over increasing energy bills and mortgage repayments starting to impact behaviour, reports Big Hospitality.
Louis Vuitton has announced the company will transform its corporate office in Paris into a mixed-use site, including the brand's first hotel. Boutique Hotel News report that the hotel will be due to open by 2027.
