Giggling squid open first London restaurant
Thai restaurant chain, Giggling Squid, has opened its first restaurant in the capital. Eat Out Magazine reported that the new 100-cover restaurant is located in Wimbledon Village and takes the company's estate to 22 sites. Additional openings planned for Bath and Beaconsfield shortly will increase the estate to 24. After opening their first site in Hove eight years ago, this move marks the company's first London site.
Marston's announce preliminary results
According to Pub and Bar magazine, Marston's has announced their preliminary results for the 52 weeks ended 30th September 2017. Revenue increased 10% to £992.2m, and profit before tax was up by 3%, taking the total to £100.1m; average profit per pub also rose by 2%. Furthermore, Marston's acquired nine pubs, opened a further 19 but also opened eight lodges, therefore taking their total estate to over 1,250 rooms. The brewer intends to open 15 pubs and bars as well as six lodges in 2018.
Gusto opens 19th site in Sutton Coldfield
Gusto, the premium restaurant brand, has opened its latest site in the Mulberry Walk development in Sutton Coldfield. The new £1m 4,000 square site can cater for 156 covers. The Palatine Private Equity backed company told Propel Info last month that they intend to open three sites in the south of England within the next year and a half.
1950s rock 'n' roll pub to open in Stoke Newington
Pub and Bar magazine has announced the new opening of Be-Bop-A-Lula, a 1950s rock 'n' roll pub, featuring live bands, musical memorabilia as well as a 1950s wurlitzer jukebox. Situated on Green Lanes in Stoke Newington, the concept pub has been created by the team behind North by Northwest and The Alma.
Tomos Parry to launch restaurant
Tomos Parry, former head chef at Kitty Fisher's is launching his first solo venture, according to The Caterer. The restaurant, Brat, will be situated on London's Redchurch Street and is set to open in spring 2018. The menu will feature seasonal British produce and the venture is backed by founders of the Smoking Goat, Ben Chapman and Brian Hannon.

Paul Charity at Propel Info has reported that Time Well Spent has sold the leasehold interest in the Plough & Furrow in the village of Smallfield, Surrey. The deal was brokered by Nick Earee at Fleurets.
